MORPC intends to keep the growing momentum up for the environmental movement in Ohio with the second annual Summit on Sustainability and the Environment.  All are welcome to attend the three-day event, focusing on transportation, economy, land use, facilities, waste reduction, products, energy and project financing as they relate to sustainability. The Summit will feature keynote and breakout presentations, a green exhibit hall, facilitated action sessions, field trips and an evening reception.

September 13 Field Trip Details

On Saturday, September 13 several unique field trips are planned.  If you have already registered for the Summit, you will need to register for the field trip of your choice separately in order for MORPC to account for group transportation.  If you would like to attend a field trip ONLY, and not the entire Summit program, you can register separately as well.  Experiential field trips are $20.

Featured Keynote Speaker Announced

Internationally renowned environmentalist, journalist and author Richard Louv will be a keynote speaker at MORPC's Summit on Sustainability and the Environment on Thursday, September 11. His presentation will begin at 9 a.m. at the Greater Columbus Convention Center.

Louv’s book “Last Child in the Woods Saving Our Children from Nature-Deficit Disorder” is a national bestseller. Louv is the Chairman of the Children & Nature organization and has been featured on the “Today Show,” “CBS Morning Show,” and “Good Morning America.”  His work in promoting the necessity for children to interact with nature is being hailed as a “Leave No Child Inside” motivator for the country.
